Here's a video from Japan showing how a figure were built from scratch. It shows the whole process from designing... to sculpting... to finishing it. There's no subtitles but by just watching what they are doing you should get a glimpse of what they are doing.
There's 9 parts to the video, each rounding 9 to 10 minutes. It's worth the time to watch it if you are really curious. It was really very interesting to see how it was built from nothing to something awesome. I'd never imagined that that's the way they did the sculpting, it's cool. There's a lot of work done. The artists were really skilled and professional. I'm really very impressed by their magic hands.
